Unicorn Warrior

Knightmare Studios realiza miniaturas de criaturas monstruosas y caóticas al estilo "old school" de Warhammer. Entre ellas, cuando vi la figura de Woloff el Místico supe que tenía que formar parte de mi colección. No tardé mucho en buscarle un hueco dentro del mundo de Labyrinthus.

Nightmare Studios make some monster and chaotic creatures in Warhammer's old school style. Among them, when I say the figure of Woloff the Mystic I knew it must be part of my collection. It didn't take me a lot to create it some background in the world of Labyrinthus.

El mundo de Labyrinthus está cubierto de espesos bosques, que crecen entre las engañosas avenidas y galerías. Los árboles tienen la capacidad de concentrar y canalizar los vientos etéreos, de manera que es en estos bosques donde se concentra la fuerza del Éter en su más pura esencia. La fuerza de su poder hace que los bosques sean especialmente peligrosos, ya que el tiempo y el espacio fluctúan de manera impredecible, y las formas y seres que viven en ellos sufren extrañas transformaciones. Uno de los seres que habitan estos bosques son los Unicornios.

The world of Labyrinthus is covered by dense forests, growing up among the misleading avenues and galleries. Trees have the capability to concentrate and canalize the winds of Ether, so it is in the forest where the energy of Ether concentrates in its stronger way. The force of its power makes these forests specially dangerous, because time and space fluctuate in an unpredictable way, and shapes and beings there suffer strange transformations. One of these creatures are the Unicorns.

Rara vez se ha visto a una de estas criaturas mágicas. Su aparición es fruto de una condensación especialmente densa y fuerte de la energía etérea, de manera que son seres mágicos de gran poder y extrañeza. Los Unicornios son piezas de caza especialmente valiosas, ya que la esencia del éter que les ha dado forma convierte a sus cuerpos, sangre y piel, pero especialmente sus cuernos, en un ingrediente valioso a la hora de realizar pociones y conjuros. Sin embargo, los caprichos del Éter hacen que, en muchas ocasiones, estos Unicornios adopten forma humana, y su poder mágico hace que pronto aprendan a defenderse, para sorpresa de sus captores.

Some of these creatures are weird and hard to be seen. Their appearing comes from a strong concentration of ethereal energy, so they are beings of great power and strangeness. Unicorns are one of the most valuable creatures: the ethereal essence that shape them makes their bodies, blood and fur, and specially their horns, a very useful ingredient for magic spells and potions. However, Ether is a strange craftsman, and sometimes these Unicorns take human shapes, and their magical power give them the ability to defend themselves, to the very surprise of their hunters.

Carcassonne Tournament

Este fin de semana, dentro de mi club de juegos de mesa El Preboste, patrocinados por la tienda online Taguriz hemos jugado un torneo de Carcassonne de Devir, que he tenido el honor de organizar junto con mi colega Lord Enzo. El torneo ha contado con una participación fuera de lo esperado, 20 jugadores, y ha consistido en dos rondas más una final.

Os dejo algunas fotos del torneo, en el que todos hemos disfrutado mucho. Agradecer a todos los jugadores su deportividad y buen humor.

The Explorer and the Huntress

Dos nuevos personajes se unen al grupo de aventureros para explorar Labyrinthus. Son una Exploradora y una Cazadora.

The are two new adventures to seek Labyrinthus. They are an Explorer and a Huntress.

Algunos iniciados en sus viajes por Labyrinthus deciden no regresar a sus hogares, si no que se dedican a vagar en busca de tesoros y a la caza de bestias, tratando de hacer de aquel un espacio algo más seguro, o desentrañar los misterios que ocultan los pasillos infinitos. Estos personajes adquieren un conocimiento práctico del laberinto, desarrollando incluso algún saber esotérico, fruto de su experiencia y sus encuentros con los seres del laberinto. Por ello, suelen ir acompañados de animales, o equipados con extraños instrumentos, que se han ido encontrando o se han unido a ellos a lo largo de sus viajes.

Some travelers in Labyrinthus decided not to return to their homes, but to wander through in search of treasures or hunting beasts, trying to create a safer place to live in, or to unravel the secrets hidden in the limitless corridors. These characters acquire a practical knowledge of the labyrinth, and also develop some kind of esoteric knowledge because their experience and the eerie creatures they have found. Because of that, they are usually escorted by animals, or equipped with strange weapons they have found or have been joined to them in their voyage.

Los exploradores se dedican a vagar por Labyrinthus sin un propósito claro. Siguen viejos rumores, acuden allí donde han escuchado noticias de extraños fenómenos o seres, o buscan tesoros y lugares ocultos para ampliar su conocimiento. Muchos portan extrañas armas y armaduras, o poseen diversos conocimientos arcanos obtenidos de diversos rincones de Labyrinthus.

The explorers devote their lives wandering through Labyrinthus with not a clear way. They follow old rumors, go there where stories about strange phenomena or beings are heard, or look for treasures and hidden places to increase their knowledge. Most of them carry strange weapons and armour, or have curious arcane knowledge obtained in diverse corners of Labyrinthus.

Esta exploradora sabe cómo invocar aves para ayudarla. Los pájaros acuden a su llamada y cumplen su cometido, alejándose después de haber cumplido su misión.

This explorer knows how to invoke birds for help. They assist them with her call, and then fly away when the task is done.

Los cazadores son personajes taciturnos y feroces. Se dedican a encontrar y dar muerte a los seres más horribles y peligrosos de Labyrinthus. Muchos de ellos se lanzan a esta vida solitaria y peligrosa para vengar una tragedia personal o por sentir el llamado de lo salvaje. Prefieren la compañía de las  bestias que han encontrado en su camino, domesticadas y puestas a su servicio en su continuo peregrinar. Sin embargo, si algún aventurero consigue ganarse su confianza, son compañeros de viaje excepcionales, ya que su experiencia resulta vital para la supervivencia ante las amenazas del laberinto.

Hunters are moody and relentless people. They devote their lives to search and kill the most horrible and dangerous beings in Labyrinthus. Most of them live a solitary and dangerous life to revenge a personal tragedy or because they heard the call of wilderness. They rather prefer the company of the beast they have found in their way, domesticated and in service of their necessities in their pilgrimage. But, if some adventurer is able to gain their confidence, they become unique companions, due to their long experience in surviving against the threats of the labyrinth.

Esta cazadora es seguida por un perro lobo y un gato montés, compañeros inseparables, dispuestos a dar su vida sin dudarlo por su ama.

This huntress is followed by a wolf dog and a wildcat, constant companions, disposed to give their lives for their mistress.

Toda la colección son miniaturas de Reaper. Tan sólo el halcón y el águila que acompañan a la exploradora están posados sobre ramas del bosque y las dríadas de Citadel. He disfrutado mucho pintando este grupo. Pintar el pelaje de los animales es un gran reto, y estoy satisfecho con el resultado.

All the collection comes from Reaper. Only the falcon and the eagle of the Explorer use some branches from Citadel forest and dryads. I enjoyed a lot to paint this group, specially the fur of the animals. I'm very happy with the result.
